About THE BONNER FAMILY 1825-2006
Please sign in to see more.
The Bonner Family site is designed to give visitors information on eight generations of Bonners beginning with Coleman Bonner who was born in 1825. Coleman Bonner is the Great-Great Grandfather of the site administrator, Matttie Bonner-Tyson.As a young child, I often wondered about my ascestors; what they might have looked like, where they came from and how they were treated as slaves.
I was raised in a family of nine children in Mason, Tennessee. My grandfather, Miles Bonner Sr., lived with my family until his death in February, 1952. Miles Sr.(Papa)use to tell me stories about how his family worked from sun up until sun down just to keep bread on the table. He told stories of going to the fields at dawn and returning by lantern light at night. Mile's wife, Louvinia Macklin-Bonner, died at a young age leaving Miles with three young children to raise; Eli(myfather),Mattie(the aunt who I was named after), and Miles Jr.
Papa showed me where some of my ancestors had been buried in unmarked slave graves on the Baskerville farm. I had always wondered how my family ended up on the Baskerville farm and now I have the answer. Margie Bonner-Stuckey, my sister, supplied the answers to many questions when she located a copy of, "MASON:A Glimpse into the Past",an account of Mason's history compiled by John Walker Marshall.
This book traces the linage of Coleman Bonner, a slave of the Baskerville Family, to the pesent day Bonner Family of Mason, Tennessee. After you have visited the site please be kind enough to sign the guest book include any suggestions, comments, corrections or new information you would like to see added or changed.
Members of the fifth generation of Bonners include: Lilton, Floyd Sr.,Eli Jr, Warren(Teesie), Ida Louvinia, Hertha Bonner-Bailey, Margie Bonner-Woods- Stuckey, Mattie Bonner-Tyson, and George Coleman.

Thanks for visting with us,
 Mattie Bonner-Tyson
